Published 1844 - This map was originally published by The Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge in 1840, depicting Australia in 1839; the original publication date of 1840 is printed on the map. This edition of the map was printed and published by Chapman & Hall in 1844. The map shows parts of the Australian coastline of Victoria, Northern Territory and Western Australia still uncharted, and the New Guinea coastline as charted on the map is inaccurate and incomplete.. Antique steel engraved map with original outline hand colouring (coloring). Size 33 x 41 cm | 13.0 x 16.0 inches. Condition: Good; suitable for framing.
