If a fellow Israelite becomes poor, you should help them as if they were a stranger. You should not charge them interest or take advantage of them in any way.
Punishment for taking a life
Whoever kills a person must be put to death.
Punishment for injuring someone
Whoever injures another person must receive the same injury in return. For example, if someone breaks another person's eye, they should have their eye broken.
Punishment for blaspheming God
Whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord must be put to death by stoning. This applies to both foreigners and native-born Israelites.
Punishment for taking an animal's life
Whoever kills an animal must make restitution by providing another animal of equal value.
Commands for the sanctuary shekel
The sanctuary shekel is the unit of value used, with 20 gerahs to the shekel.
Commands for the firstborn
The firstborn of an animal belongs to the Lord and cannot be dedicated.
Commands for tithes
A tithe of everything from the land, including grain and fruit, belongs to the Lord. A tithe of the herd and flock also belongs to the Lord.
