Description
Charlotte Sherman, the director of Heritage Gallery, Los Angeles studied at UCLA; Otis Art Institute and Kahn Art Institute from 1947-1955. As the director of Heritage Gallery, she represented major collections and was the curator of almost 40 museum exhibitions. Her specialties were the art of Modern painters, African Americans, American Social Realists from the 1930s-1960s and Hispanic and International prints. Charlotte was an extraordinary art dealer. She was gracious, gentle, elegant and a very knowledgeable wonderful lady that lived to be 100 years old.
The artist, Ernest Lacy, was born in Los Angeles in 1928. Lacy settled in Whittier, California in 1953. He studied at UCLA and Chouinard Institute of Art as well as in Mexico and Italy. During his long career he taught art at Whittier College, Cal State Los Angeles, and Cerritos College. As of 2013 he lived in Whittier. His paintings of nature are in the Cezanne tradition. Exhibited: California Watercolor Society, 1954-55.
