A Antique Blue Transfer Decorated Staffordshire Soup Tureen, With Underliner & Ladle, "Clarendon"
Marked by John Ridgway, circa 1830's
Made by John Ridgway a Porcelain and Earthenware manufacturer at Cauldon Place, Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent, England.
Very nice shapely soup tureen, and underliner tray in the whimsical Clarendon pattern. A unusual and hard to find pattern.
Retains the original ladle, which is very unusual, as they were usually broken.
Very excellent preserved condition for the age!
Size: 15 1/2" by 11 1/2" , and 11" tall overall.
Condition: The ladle has been repaired, and has a few chips on the side of the ladle basin. Substantial staining on the inside of the soup tureen body itself, and a small hairline where the ladle would rest. Minor glaze wear from age and use. Use and wear marks are consistent with age.
