Above it all, a wide pale blue sky opens up, scattered with light, feathery clouds applied in broad, expressive strokes.

Neal’s technique focuses on mood and atmosphere rather than exacting detail, using luminous colour blends and visible brush marks to evoke the feeling of the landscape.

Charles Neal (b. 1951) is a leading figure in British postwar and contemporary impressionist painting. Neal’s paintings have been sold at top auction houses including Bonhams, Matsart Jerusalem, and Dreweatts, with a highest recorded auction price of $23,370 USD.
