This vintage Libra zodiac pendant necklace is crafted in solid 14k yellow gold and dates to approximately the 1970s, when zodiac jewelry became widely popular in fine jewelry design. The pendant features a dimensional medallion with a raised three dimensional depiction of the Libra scales, symbolizing balance and harmony. Surrounding the scales are celestial elements including stars and a crescent moon set against a textured background that adds contrast and depth to the design.
The pendant measures 1 3/4 inches in length and 1 3/8 inches in width and weighs 14.8 grams. It is stamped 14k, confirming solid gold construction. The necklace is paired with a 14k gold rope chain measuring 23 1/2 inches in length and weighing 7 grams. The chain is stamped 14k OR on the clasp. Rope chains were a popular style during the late twentieth century due to their durability and light reflecting twisted links. The necklace weighs 21.8 grams in total.
There is minor damage to one area of the chain, visible in the photos, though the necklace remains secure and very wearable.
