S#: 2539040, Mfg. September 1944 | The M1D is one of two telescope-mounted versions of the M1 rifle that were developed at Springfield Armory for use by snipers. There are mainly 3 sources of correct M1Ds and they are CMP/DCM and Israel imports from the 1980s. Consignor states this one is of the desirable Israel M1-D returns. Legitimate M1D rifles are historically significant and are highly sought after by collectors. This one appears to be in excellent and honest configuration. Correct serial number range, barrel correctly marked “SA-A-3-52” with the correct M1D contract number on top “D7312555” as seen in the photos | 100% correct and authentic M84 Scope serial no. 12542. Equipped with one of the more desirable leather cheek pads by K-Line with perfect patina and doesn’t appear to have ever come off this rifle since it was put on. There is a vertical 3-digit number on right side of the butt stock “760” and another number stamped inside the stock “040” which matches the receiver serial no. (These are signs of an Israel import) | Has a 3-Prong T-67 Flash Hider | Beautiful blackened cartouche on left side “SA/GAW in Square” and ordnance crossed cannons both which appear to have excellent ingrained patina. “P” stamp on underside of the grip |||| Condition: Excellent. 98% beautiful original parkerized finish.
