After graduating from the Royal College of Art in London Nesbitt was a nightwatchman for the Phillips Collection which he sad inspired him to paint. As his career took hold and the public's love for his extremely realistic/photo-like works, best known for his flowers, he began to have many one man exhibits including shows at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Israel Museum and the Baltimore Museum of Art. Today his art can be viewed in some of the most prestigious public and private collections including the Hirshhorn Museum of Art, some American Embassies, Art Institute of Chicago and the Library of the Congress. The United States Postal Service also released a stamp in 1980 based on his floral paintings.
