This volume with 94 hand-colored engravings is volume two of Giovanni Battista Passeri's Picturae Etruscorum in Vasculis nunc primum in unum collectae, explicationibus, et dissertaionibus inlustrate... The work was published in Rome by J. Zempel in 1770.

The volume is expertly bound to style in half calf over period Italian marbled paper covered boards. The spines have raised bands, Morocco lettering pieces in the second and third compartments, and repeat decoration in gilt. There is title printed in black and red with inset engraved illustration, two black and white engraved frontispieces, numerous inset illustrated engravings in the text, and 94 full page engravings with original hand-coloring.

The work illustrated vases from important collections across Italy, many from the Galleria Clementina of the Vatican Library. Most of these vases have since been lost, leaving the illustrations as important depictions of lost artifacts. It was considered an important precursor to Hamilton's work on vases.

Giovanni Battista Passeri (1610-1679) was an Italian painter and antiquarian. He primarily primarily focused his work on Etruscan civilization. This work helped illuminate that the Etruscans were pioneers, artists, and inventors that often were overshadowed by the Romans.
