The iconic Eames designed fabric on these chairs "Crosspatch" is from Maharam's collection "Textiles of the 20th Century. When I reupholstered these in early 2000s I referred to the color as "melon"... now in 2024 it falls in line with Pantone's Color of the Year "Peach Fuzz"! It is delightfully peachy, papaya-y, lightly fruity and still in good condish.
Joe Atkinson designed upholstered frames of laminated wood frames bent by the steaming process that made Thonet famous. Distributed by Thonet Industries in America, late 40s thru the 60s.
Cotton felt was/is the original pad under a textured plastic upholstery (predated "vinyl"), with a thin foam pad added to provide a little more resilience without changing the chair's profile.
These chairs have been much loved and well cared for - condition is commensurate with age and use. Welcome to personally or virtually view at my Minneapolis studio by appointment - message me to arrange

Alterations: Original Design Modified
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
