The detail and quality of this piece are incredible.

This oil on canvas painting is not signed, but it is believed to be by someone from the circle of French born artist, Jean Baptiste van Loo (1684-1745) or possibly van Loo himself. Van Loo worked in both France and England.

There is a portrait by van Loo of Horatio Walpole of Woltertan. The style, background, clothing, and furnishings match this portrait very closely.


This painting is extremely large and comes in a later wooden frame. The painting itself measures 50 x 40 inches. The framed piece measures. 48.5 x 58.65 inches
