Description
An extraordinary pair of emerald green Empoli Italian glass pitchers, ewers or vases, as you wish.
These hand blown manifestations of fine Italian art glass may serve with dual functionality of purposeful use, or as aspiration in the completion of a design aesthetic. Choose as you may, they will certainly be stunning in any role. There is a slight variation in their height, which when paired together makes an alluringly beautiful statement of contrast. (the taller piece is 14.5" tall and the shorter piece is 13.5" both with a diameter of 7"). Tall and captivating these large bodied pitchers have equally impressive handles that elicit the admiration typical of Italian Empoli glass. Empoli glass has a long and prominent history dating back to the 14th century. Originating in the Tuscan region of western Italy, Empoli glass hails from a region where many fine glass companies produced and exported the renown "Empoli Verde" or "Empoli Green" art glass, with the infamous green color having been procured by the iron that occurred locally in the sands of this region.
Empoli glass was generally marked only with "Made in Italy" paper or foil labels. Over time, many of the original labels have fallen off and the majority of Empoli MCM glass now is unmarked. However, with the striking pair of Empoli glass pitchers offered here, one of these notorious labels is still present, please see photos.
