Howard Finster "Uncle Sam" Folk Art Wood Sculpture, 1996

Description

Wonderful original American folk art sculpture by Baptist minister and renowned outsider artist Howard Finster. Titled "Uncle Sam" and created on July 15, 1996. Acrylic and marker on cut wood. Freestanding. Signed and dated on reverse. Measures 22.5 inches tall x 10.5 inches wide x and just over 6.5 inches deep at the base. The wood used for the body of the sculpture is 3/16 inch thick; the base is .75 inch thick.

Provenance and condition: Excellent original condition. We are the original owner and purchased the sculpture from the artist's "Paradise Garden" home and workplace in Summerville, Georgia, in August 1996. The site is now a public museum.
