Alexander Kuntner, born in 1898 in Hungary, studied art in Budapest under famed painters such as Jeno Gyarfas, Tibor Galle, and Palla Jeno.

Kuntner worked many years at the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest, which supported his passion and secondary income stream as a professional portrait painter. His style could most appropriately be characterized as realism, but with a whimsical intensity that became his trademark.
