Description
This vintage limited edition lithograph is after the original 1932 painting by Pablo Picasso, entitled "Femme Accoudee au Drapeau Bleu et Rouge" was published in 1980 by The Picasso Estate Collection.
The vibrant framed print boldly depicts a solemn woman in a blue and red kerchief, perhaps resting her cheek on her hand. However, the title translates as "Woman Leaning on Blue and Red Flag," possibly conveying melancholy Picasso wished to express in regard to his complex relationship with his long-adopted home of France... having national colors of blue and red.
Signature: The print is signed 'Collection Marina Picasso' by the artist's granddaughter in pencil to the lower right and is numbered 146 out of an edition of 500 to the lower left.
Printed copies of markings to the verso and the lower margins are attached to the verso, including a blind stamp that reads 'A Limited Edition After a Work by Pablo Picasso", another that reads "L.M.S." (fame printmaker Laurent Marcel Salinas), and a stamp "(C) International Masters Group 1979'."
The print is accented with a light blue matte and a gold wood frame. It is ready to hang, with framed dimensions of 25.5" W x 31.25" H x 1.0" D.
