Newton captured this image of Linda Morand for a French Vogue layout in Paris, not knowing that it would cause an international incident and become possibly the most controversial image of Newton's career. Linda Morand's striking resemblance to Jackie Kennedy, along with Newton's intentionally misleading title, prompted immediate blowback from the First Lady and wide criticism from other premier photographers at the time. This is an absolutely great image for a living room, office, hallway, or anywhere else a guaranteed conversation starter would work.

Condition and Materials

Vintage silver gelatin print developed on a 20" x 24" thick photographic paper. Print is in excellent condition, never framed or displayed, and stored in climate controlled facility. Provenance

This collection of prints are owned by a private party that acquired the collection directly from the artist. The collection of prints are 1980's production originally designed for retail distribution. Following a series of exhibitions at reknowned galleries in London, New York, Paris, and Los Angeles, the remaining prints were acquired from Newton directly and documented in a signed legal agreement between parties in 1986. This agreement was further ratified following Newton's passing in 2012 by the Helmut Newton Estate, signed by June Newton, and recorded and filed in the Superior Court of Los Angeles. Print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by legal representative detailing ownership, right to sell, and authenticity.
