S/N 1221. 21" barrel. Caliber .54 Burnside. The top of the receiver is marked with the patent date and serial number. The barrel is marked with the date of manufacture, 1862. The lockplate is marked “Burnside Rifle Co.” along with their address. Overall, this rifle is in good condition, retaining very little of its original blued and color case finish. The bore is exceptionally clean given its age, with strong rifling. The wood is in good shape, with nicks and dents throughout, but altogether solid.
