The Bodhisattva has wavy hair tied into a high topknot and a characteristic moustache, adorned with multi-layered pearl necklaces, earrings and bracelets. His torso is bare, wrapped in a Greco-Roman-style monastic skirt carved with canonical "wet drapery" folds of smooth, realistic lines. His right hand is raised in the abhaya mudra, while the left grips a kundika vase, the identifying symbol of Maitreya. A damaged oval plain nimbus sits behind his head. The square plinth features a central carved stupa flanked by devotees with palms folded in worship, a fully developed standard icon of Gandhara Maitreya.
