Description
Juan Lopes (1765-1825) was a highly regarded Royal Geographer to the King of Spain. The copperplate engraving showcases an early political geography layout of the newly formed United States shortly after its independence. It labels the original states and territories in Spanish, making it a unique foreign perspective on the early American territory. The frame perfectly compliments the engraving.
