The Late Classical dressing bureau is veneered in richly figured mahogany and fitted with two glove drawers flanking an inset white marble dressing slab. A monumental pivoting mirror rises within a fluid pierced frame of lyre-like scrolls, incised rosettes, and foliate carving. The case has a projecting cushion-front upper drawer above three graduated hand-dovetailed drawers, with rounded pilasters, paneled sides, shaped bracket feet, and casters.Provenance: West Point, MS greek revival estate. Condition: Appears structurally substantial and presents very well. The exterior appears to retain an old refinished surface with scattered scratches, abrasions, minor veneer nicks, shrinkage, and other age-related wear. Marble has light staining and surface wear. Wooden pulls may be replacements. Age and originality of the mirror plate and casters have not been determined. Please examine all photographs.
