Offered in this lot is a highly desirable Winchester Model 1895 NRA Musket chambered in .30-06 Springfield, manufactured in 1915. The Winchester Model 1895 is one of John Brownings most significant lever-action designs and was the first Winchester lever rifle capable of safely handling modern spitzer-pointed cartridges. This rare N.R.A. Musket configuration was produced to meet the specifications of the National Rifle Association of Americas Any Military Arm matches, featuring unique military-style features including a special 24-inch barrel, Krag-style rear sight, flat buttplate, bayonet lug, and musket-style stock with finger-grooved forearm.

This exceptional example remains in excellent overall condition. The rifle features a fantastic bore with sharp, reflective rifling that is slightly dull in appearance. The action functions smoothly and works great. The finish remains impressive, showing minimal signs of use and wear including light edge thinning and handling marks. The stock is in fantastic condition, displaying only minor cosmetic dings and scratches consistent with age and careful use.

A particularly rare feature of this rifle is the special-ordered threaded muzzle. Winchester advertised the ability to attach Maxim and other silencers during the early 1900s, and according to Winchester expert and author George Madis in The Winchester Book (page 467), only a few Winchesters left the factory with barrels specifically threaded for this purpose. Due to the lack of surviving factory records for 1915 production, this feature cannot be independently documented through Cody records, but the period-correct configuration is exceptionally uncommon.

Additional features include standard Winchester markings, factory oval proofs on the receiver ring and barrel ahead of the rear sight, a non-factory drilled and tapped barrel, bayonet lug mounted beneath the barrel band, and the distinctive NRA Musket stock configuration. These rifles were produced in limited numbers and are highly sought after by advanced Winchester collectors due to their rarity, historical significance, and connection to early competitive shooting.
