Description
an impressive pair of 19th century landscapes
Masterly rendered views depicting the beauty of the nature at the outskirts of the Alps
Extremely fine quality of work with great attention to the detail
Impressive, masterful use of the light
One depicts a little chalet in the foreground of breathtaking panoramic views of the mountains
At the other - a serene lake with sailboats and a sleepy small village with an old castle contrast with the dramatic majesty of the mountain chain
The paintings are rendered on a tin sheet, both signed lower right as well on verso
One is dated 1887 on verso, and both are titled by the artist with multiple inscriptions, which have faded over time and are hard to read now
Additional research needed for proper identification
One is mounted in a simple period silvered wood frame, the other is unframed
They came to us together so we are presenting them as a pair
