A vibrant original color woodcut titled "Phewa Tal" by celebrated American printmaker Carol Summers (1925-2016), created in 1978.

Inspired by Phewa Tal (Phewa Lake) in Pokhara, Nepal, the composition transforms the mountainous landscape into bold, overlapping forms rendered in richly saturated shades of blue, green, red, yellow, pink and black. The semi-abstract landscape beautifully demonstrates Summers' distinctive use of simplified forms and luminous color.

The work is signed, titled and numbered 13/150 in pencil and is presented in a blue frame with a wide white mat.

Carol Summers is particularly recognized for the innovative woodcut technique he developed during the mid-20th century. His process allowed color to penetrate the paper, producing the softened edges and distinctive luminous quality that became a hallmark of his work.

Landscape remained central to Summers' work throughout his career, and extensive international travel strongly influenced his imagery. His later travels included Nepal, India, China and Japan, further expanding the global subject matter found in his prints.

Summers' work has been widely exhibited and collected by museums internationally. His prints were exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York beginning in the 1950s, and MoMA presented his work in a one-man exhibition in 1964.
