I love to capture ordinary moments, especially if they bring joy, and what is better than St. Bernard puppies? This duo was on a farm we visited years ago. I liked the composition but was struggling to make the background interesting. As I debated on what to do, my own dog walked into the house, leaving muddy paw prints everywhere. That was what it was missing! As soon as I painted in the prints I knew it was finished.

This piece has painted edges on all sides to make any kind of framing possible.
