Description
This French birdcage is a 19th Century hand constructed bird cage made from African Acacia wood and strong metal wiring that is the sculptural support that holds the rest of the Acacia frame of this intricately created artistic triumph. It was imported to Paris France in the late 19th century. It has a large sculpted cupola adorning the top of the cage with 2 adjoining side domes to complete the unique architectural design. I love the wooden steps leading up to the door which opens outward for easy access. On the side is a flexible panel that opens up for easy access for cleaning the bottom of the cage. I found it in London while vacationing in 1991. It was in the most beautiful antique shop close to Harrods Department Store.
