Description
A marvelous, heavy, decorative, sterling silver mustard pot made by Edward Barnard and John Barnard, registered in London 1858. The unusual open-work, as if looking through arched windows, allows the cobalt blue glass liner to show through. Another unusual feature is the the decorative thumb-pull on the hinged lid. The lid is also hallmarked. The spots of tarnish can be removed with a proper cleaning. The fiddle back spoon was made in London in 1863; the bowl has faint signs of gold wash. The glass liner has a small chip on the outer rim, which is not visible when the liner is in place. The mustard pot itself and the spoon are in excellent condition. These pots are useful for a variety of condiments--mustard(s), horseradish, tartar sauce, chutney, etc.
