A monumental 19th century American ash and oak splint feather basket of fantastic size with two banded handles, a wide bentwood rib running around the belly of the basket, and a wooden ring base. Every farm in American had a feather basket where chicken and duck feathers were stored after plucking, and used to make pillows, winter jackets, and other domestic needs.
