Description
This lot features a sterling silver traveling beaker or dram cup manufactured by the Gorham Manufacturing Company of Providence, Rhode Island. The beaker is of tapered, flared form with a gold-washed vermeil interior. The exterior is decorated with an elaborate, hand-engraved intertwined script monogram. The base is struck with Gorham hallmark punches consisting of a lion passant, an anchor, and a gothic-style letter G. Below the hallmarks, the cup is marked STERLING and pattern number A5270. The beaker is accompanied by its original fitted protective case, which is leather-wrapped with a purple velvet interior lining and a brass stud closure. 46 g sterling 3 in high.
