An Oregon native and largely self-taught, Douglas Johnson has made a name for himself with evocative gouache paintings that draw inspiration from the delicate techniques of Native American miniaturists. His work captures the vivid landscapes and distinct spirit of New Mexico, a place that has become central to his artistic vision. Johnson?s connection to the Southwest began in college when he joined VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) and was assigned to the Navajo Indian Reservation. That immersive experience sparked a deep appreciation for Navajo culture?shaping both his art and his decision to put down roots in New Mexico. The frame measures 15.5 x 18 inches, and the paper is 6 x 9 inches. The artwork is in excellent pre-owned condition with no visible flaws.
