Artist Bio: Born in Holland, Maurits Cornelis Escher studied graphic arts as a young man. He would later spend many years living in Italy, Switzerland, and Belgium, sketching the architecture and landscapes. Escher's drawings portray his interest in fantastic, albeit impossible shapes. These include landscapes with a unique take on near and far, or high and low, as is seen in his lithograph "Castrovalva". His drawings represent a fascinating insight into two and three-dimensional geometrical perspectives. Presented as woodcuttings, metal engravings, and lithography, Escher's artwork for sale reveals the artist's interest in the physical dimensions of space and matter, portrayed with mathematical and geometrical precision.

Minor age toning and waviness to sheet. No apparent foxing or staining. Not examined out of frame.
