Apparently unsigned, titled to stretcher, gallery label for PaceWildenstein, New York, NY, and exhibition labels for Marlborough Gallery, New York, NY, and The Institute for Contemporary Art PS1 Museum, Long Island City, NY, to stretcher (both with incorrect date). Framed.
"Wet Night" is characteristic of Katz's mid-1990s landscapes that often include leafless winter branches against a muted sky. While most of Katz’s landscapes originate in Maine, where the artist has spent every summer since the 1950s, this piece stands out amongst Katz’s oeuvre as a work depicting New York’s Central Park.
