Izarra, which means “star†in Basque, is a liqueur brand created in 1906 in Hendaye, in the Basque Country, by botanist and pharmacist Joseph Grattau. Izarra is a liqueur made from a distillate composed of plants, spices and 2 macerations, prunes and walnut stain. The distillate is combined, after passing through a copper still, with Armagnac to obtain a result faithful to the original recipe. Izarra is a symbol of the Basque Country, bought in 1981 by Cointreau SA then sold in 2015 to Spirited Brands Limited, the Vedrenne group has been distributing it since 2018. In the poster, a man in traditional Basque clothing is on a horse, holding a long pole in his hand. He is aiming at a bottle of Izarra liqueur.
