Each plate features a white center adorned with a hand painted floral bouquet, with every plate showing a unique arrangement of flowers. The wide border, approximately 1 1/2 inches, displays a rich purple hue accented with lavish raised gilding. The raised effect comes not only from the gold enamel itself but from the porcelain underneath, which is molded to create genuine dimension and texture beneath the gilt. Each plate is signed on the reverse with the mark of Andre Cie, Passage Violet No. 3, Paris. The plates measure 9 inches in diameter. Condition is excellent overall, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. As expected with a stacked dinner service of this age, there is light wear where the foot rim of one plate rests against the surface of another, visible in the photographs, along with some wear to the gilded edge and a few scattered missing gold dots, though nothing noticeable at a glance.
