A very American street view, masterly rendered with watercolors and ink on cardboard
Nondescript, not important, typical urban alley, yet very appealing with the hazed light and the sketched distant figures

Painted on Whatman drawing paper, considered by specialists to be the finest quality paper for art, which was in production since 1750's. Whatman ended paper making by hand in the 1950's and by the 1960's no longer made paper for art at all, although there was an ill-fated 1980's relaunch producing not great mold-made watercolor and printmaking paper for a few years
