Description
NEW COLLECTION! This is a stunning Original Mixed Media Painting on Paper by Listed New York Artist, Josef Presser (1907-1967). Presser's works have been exhibited at the Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. His work is in many museum collections, both here and abroad, including the Uffizi, Florence, The Whitney Museum of American Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Philadelphia Art Alliance, Philadelphia.
This depiction of two young boys is a very fine example of his work. The deep colors and nice textural elements show off Presser's talent for working across mediums. This work was originally purchased and framed in the 1950s and we have not examined it outside the frame. It appears to be a mix of gouache, charcoal, and possibly oil on paper. It has been matted and framed under glass. Signed in the lower right. A must-have for the Presser collector.
