Description
Entitled Skalafellsjokull, 1989, this sculptural diptych 76"x38"x3" (38"x38"x3" each) reflects the stark Icelandic landscape of glacier tongues and lava fields, while the content abstracts the deep spiritual basis of Iceland invoking a meditation on the mythical Huldufolk. Minimalist and intensely referential, this diptych creates a stark modern wall hanging, ever mercurial depending on light source. The artist, Catherine Jones, has a background in architecture, graphic arts and theatre in New York and Europe.
