Priscilla Ridgway is an amazing artist who had lived in Oskaloosa,, Kansas for some time when she painted this piece. Her art was deeply influenced by her daily drive through this beautiful landscape toward the Kansas) River Valley and Lawrence where she attended KU while working on her PhD and her groundbreaking work on patient centered mental health.
Although unsigned, this painting was one of P. Ridgway's pieces shown at a Kansas Art Guild Show in Wichita. It was later bought by myself directly from Ms Ridgway during her show at Paradise Cafe in Lawrence, Kansas.

We can see similar visuals in the Romanticism and depiction of rural Kansas by the famous artist, John Steuart Curry, who was influenced by the very same landscape moving down toward the valley. Curry was born on a farm in Dunavant, which is near Oskaloosa in Jefferson County, Kansas. His childhood home was moved to and is now preserved as a part of Old Jefferson Town Historic Site in Oskaloosa.
Curry's work, particularly his murals, is known for depicting rural American life, often drawing from his Kansas roots. He is famous for his "Tragic Prelude" mural of John Brown in the Kansas State Capitol.
