Description
This exceptional original oil painting by listed artist Joyce Wahl Treiman (1922-1991) captures a moody urban streetscape rendered with expressive geometry and deep, saturated tones. The composition's angular gothic revival buildings, horse-drawn cart, and smoky palette capture Chicago's industrial soul through a modernist lens. Oil on stretched canvas, set in its original mid-century dark-stained wood frame. Signature present in lower right corner.
Joyce Wahl Treiman (b. 1922, Illinois) became a prodigy as a draughtsman, beginning her studies in a children's class at the age of eight, but was immediately transferred to an adult class.
