Description
This hand-pulled, four-color aquatint etching is based on an oil painting inspired by a view of Mt. Fuji by Hoikusai, one of the artist's favorites.
A native New Yorker, daughter of an artist, granddaughter of an architect, Beallor spent her youth wandering the halls of New York's museums and art galleries and began to draw around age three. At 15, she was invited into a special program for young artists at Pratt Institute. Later she attended Antioch College, The Brooklyn Museum Art School and the Art Student's League.
Beallor's art has been exhibited around the country at the Brattleboro and Hudson River Museums, the Butler Art Institute, North Miami Center for Contemporary Art and at the Sherry French and Grand Central Art Galleries on 57th Street in New York City. She has work in the collection of the Copelouzas Museum in Athens, Greece and the 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York City. Her work has been featured in numerous reviews, articles, and interviews. Among her awards are the Elizabeth T. Greenshields' Grant and the John F. and Anna Lee Stacey Fellowship. A Grant from the New Jersey State Council for the Arts helped mount an extensive retrospective exhibition of her work at the William Carlos Williams Center for the Arts in Rutherford, NJ in 1994.
