Perched on a 14k yellow gold band is a charming winged bug made of sterling silver, 9K gold, topaz, pearls, and a garnet. The bug dates to the 1900's and is delicately made with superb craftsmanship. The topaz have a lovely honey colour and the multi-faceted cuts add brilliance to the body. There are two topazes, one oval and one round; the two stones measure 9 x 6.5 mm and 4 x 4 mm respectively. The sterling silver wings have two added detail seed pearls on each side, adding a decorative touch to the bug. The body of the bug is 9K gold. The vibrant garnet for the bug's head measures 1mm round. The bug measures 3/4" with a wing span of 1". The piece was converted from a stick pin and carefully positioned on the band suggesting a bug that is about take flight.
The band is a 7-1/2 ring size, but can be easily sized by your jeweller. The interior of the band is marked with the maker as well as 14KT gold. This ring is beautifully preserved, inspired by nature and a fine example from the Art Nouveau era. With only a band conversion, this piece remains a remarkable original piece. Weighs 2.8 grammes.
