A fine example of French Louie XV style in this antique 19th century hand carved beech over mantle mirror, having a hand cut wide double beveled and original plate, a hand carved arched and pierced C-scroll and floral crest, over a stepped arched frame. It is from the French Belle Epoch period, a beautiful and prosperous period of French decoration (a period of high artistic and cultural development) after the end of France's Second Empire and before WWI.
When looking in this antique mirror, I have often wondered what past reflections it would have had.
