Description
Beautiful, double handle, hand-carved dark-wood tray of the old Mostar Bridge located in Bosnia, Herzegovina. The bridge spans the Neretva River in the old town of Mostar, the unofficial capital of Herzegovina. Tray features a carved floral design gallery with a carved rendition of the Mostar bridge centered with an ornate carved decorative motif surround under clear glass .A special technique in woodcarving, called the Giyography, was created 30 years ago and was designed by a man who was born in Konjic, artist Samir Gijo. This tray was likely hand-made by artisans in Konjic. Konjic is a City (former Municipality) and a town located in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The wood used for these trays are either walnut, ash, or cherry because hard wood is better for the Giyography process.
