Description
Pair of tImeless Chinese vases with a cylindrical shape that adds modernity to traditional blue and white porcelain. With a touch of ancient meta, the primary scene depicts two men setting down large decorative urns, the scene is repeated on the obverse of the vases. The decorative surround consists of flowers, seeds, and birds.
The Chinese characters on the vase bottom has been translated to read "made during the reign of the Kangxi Emperor," the second emperor of the Qing Dynasty (also known as the Manchu Dynasty), ruling from 1661 to 1722.
The vases complement a variety of styles from American, French and English traditional styles through to 21st-century contemporary.
Purchased in the 2000s by current owner via Guild Antiques of Greenwich, CT.
