The design receives careful hand-painting using specialized enamel paints. Made from copper, onto which finely powdered glass is applied and fired at high temperatures, creating a jewel-like finish. The design on the lid and sides of the serpentine-shaped box is inspired by an impressive late 19th-century diamond necklace and features a red-colored ground with gold-tone accents and red jeweled stones.

Inside lid reads "Design inspired by a magnificent diamond necklace dating from the 1870s". Bottom has Halcyon Enamels stamp.
