June Wayne (American, 1918–2011) was a highly influential American printmaker, painter, designer, author, and educator best known for founding the Tamarind Lithography Workshop in Los Angeles in 1960, an institution widely credited with revitalizing fine art lithography in the United States during the postwar era. A pioneering figure in modern American printmaking, Wayne collaborated with generations of artists and master printers while helping elevate lithography to a major contemporary fine art medium. Her works are held in prominent institutional collections including the Museum of Modern Art, National Gallery of Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, National Museum of Women in the Arts, and the Norton Simon Museum.

A small horizontal image is centered within broad margins, its dark field built from enlarged fingerprint ridges divided by a faint vertical line. A chain of white beadlike marks crosses the center in an irregular looped form. Inscribed in graphite “4/15 Code” at lower left and signed “June Wayne” at lower right. Bearing Edward Hamilton’s winged-heart blindstamp at lower left and Wayne’s mushroom blindstamp at lower right; verso bears Wayne’s red copyright stamp. The edition comprised fifteen impressions. Sheet measures approximately 21.625 × 20 inches; image measures approximately 9.5 × 4.5 inches. The sheet appears clean overall with a few tiny foxing specks near the lower edge and minor handling wear; image presents well. Provenance of Martin and Enid Gleich.
