A fine restored portrait of an early American Gentleman, painted in the style of the likes of Benjamin West and Gilbert Stuart. Depicting Joseph Stringham with coiffed hair, black waist coat with white linen shirt seated with a simple draped background.
Apparently unsigned.

Canvas, hexagonal in shape, presenting the oval portrait.
Later giltwood frame with engraved nameplate ' Joseph Stringham 1776-1834'
