Description
Beautiful vintage Ferro & Lazzarini Murano Italy Flower Garden Glass Paperweight with Round Wood Stand. I believe this paperweight was made in the late 1960's. It is in excellent vintage condition with no major imperfections including chips, cracks or scratches. The stand has a couple of minor scratches.
The Paperweight shows a flower garden in design with blue, purple, yellow, red and white flowers and green leaves in a bed of tan sand. On the bottom is the Maker's Label which reads "MURANO GLASS ITALY Ferro & Lazzarini".
From the Ferro & Lazzarini website: "The artistic glass factory FERRO & LAZZARINI is located in Murano - just a few steps from the famous San Donato Basilica.
Following the premature death of Eugenio Ferro in 1947, the glass factory was managed by his young heirs. From thereon, Giovanni Lazzarini became more involved in the company's activities and the name was therefore changed to FERRO & LAZZARINI S.R.L. As of 2001, FERRO & LAZZARINI S.R.L. is managed by Dario Ferro, one of Eugenio Ferro's direct descendants.
The glass factory was founded on 18th August 1929 by Eugenio Ferro in partnership with Giovanni Lazzarini and was initially called FERRO EUGENIO & CO. Its first creations were artistic glass objects and Venetian chandeliers."
The Paperweight on its stand measures 3" Tall x 4.25" Wide x 4.25" Deep. It weighs 1 pound 5.5 ounces or 21.48 ounces or 609 grams.
The Paperweight alone measures 1.75" Tall x 3.5 Wide x 3.5 Deep.
