A signed and numbered Hugh Ricks 1984 Louisiana World Exposition matte poster on pressboard, commemorating the New Orleans event that ran from May to November 1984, attracting 7 million visitors. Its theme was "The World of Rivers: Fresh Water as a Source of Life," to draw attention to the vital role of freshwater systems. The artwork reflects this theme, executed in an Art Nouveau style reminiscent of Alphonse Mucha, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Jules Cheret, Eugene Grasset, and Aubrey Beardsley. It depicts a woman holding the earth in her palms, surrounded by natural elements including a crescent moon, clouds, a waterfall, a wetland, cattails, and magnolias in purple, pink, blue, and green. Hand-signed and numbered 394/1000. This exposition was a historically formative event for New Orleans, leading to the creation of the New Orleans Warehouse/Arts District and the Morial Convention Center.

The outer corners and edges of the pressboard to which the poster is attached show some wear and creases in the tips of the corners, but the edges of the poster itself are crisp and well-preserved with only minor wear in the tips of the corners. There are several faint, thin scratches on the poster that reveal the white of the paper underneath, which are all visible in the photos. The poster is slightly bowed, but will easily flatten with framing.
