This elegant late 19th-century German porcelain pedestal comport was produced by Carl Tielsch & Co. of Altwasser, Silesia, one of the premier porcelain manufacturers supplying luxury export wares to Europe and America during the Victorian era.

The piece features a wide 12-inch serving plate with twin open handles, cobalt blue garland decoration, and hand-applied gilt detailing, raised on a sculptural Rococo tripod base. Originally intended as a formal dining table centerpiece (Tafelaufsatz), it was used for serving cakes, fruit, and confections in grand Victorian homes.

Today it functions beautifully as a kitchen island display, coffee table centerpiece, or holiday entertaining stand and pairs especially well with traditional, French country, and grandmillennial interiors.
