Beautifully painted mid-19th-century portrait of a young lady in a soft period fashion. Calm and composed sitter with an off-the-shoulder dress and choker necklace. Delicate painting of a very pretty sitter. A splendid example of the superior construction and work of the art. Note the quatrefoil support of the canvas and the fine crackle of the tight canvas.
